ECG Brand Owner Survey

Brand owners responded to my #ECG survey for #Labelexpo2023. They are very familiar with #ExpandedGamut printing, and most of them already use it or 100% #CMYK. However, a large part is still not using it, but they are interested to learn more and implement it. This offers a great opportunity for the packaging industry to approach brand owners and provide more #efficient and #sustainable packaging production process.

Brand owners’ survey Part 2/4 of #ECG for #Labelexpo2023. Noteworthy: #BrandOwners aim even up to 100% transition to #ExpandedGamut printing. None reported 0%; some 1-20%, none claimed 21-40%, but a notable interest in moving 41-60% to ECG, and more than half are aiming even 61…81% and up to 100% of ECG / CMYK implementation.

Nice trend, and emphasises the need for proactive ECG offerings! Still, the question remains: “Who should propose ECG?” According to brand owners they mainly expect printers and repro to propose it, but interestingly, even themselves and designers too. Once again, being proactive shows that one is interested in offering better #efficiency and #sustainability!

Several obstacles, primarily in thinking, are hindering the implementation. These can be overcome with increased knowledge and additional training. Good to remember: There’s no single system to cover 100% of all requirements!

Here are the brand owners’ supply chain expectations and their industry feedback summarised:

1) Focus on keeping #ExpandedGamut printing in discussions with data-driven approach and measurable results for better #efficiency and #sustainability!
2) The #printer has a big potential in sharing knowledge with packaging #designers and brand owners.
3) Brand owners want to hear more about the opportunities that ECG offers.

This sounds excellent to me and shows that the industry is open and willing to improve #EcoEccificiency through printing! – What do you think?
